"Literally, if we took away the minimum wage—if conceivably it was gone—we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level." —Michele Bachmann, 1/26/05, Jobs, Energy and Community Development Committee, testifying against SF 3, a bill to raise the MN minimum wage and advocating the elimination of the minimum wage altogether.

"Many teenagers that come in should be paying the employer because of broken dishes or whatever occurs during that period of time. But you know what? After six months, that teenager is going to be a fabulous employee and is going to go on a trajectory where he's going to be making so much money, we'll be borrowing money from him." —Michele Bachmann, 1/26/05, explaining why teenagers should pay employers for the privilege of working instead of receiving minimum wage.

"I was wondering, if most employers are already doing this anyway, isn’t minimum wage really just superfluous? "I look at the Scripture and I read it and I take it for what it is. I give more credence in the Scripture as being kind of a timeless word of God to mankind, and I take it for what it is. And I don't think I give as much credence to my own mind, because I see myself as being very limited and very flawed, and lacking in knowledge, and wisdom and understanding. So, I just take the Bible for what it is, I guess, and recognize that I am not a scientist, not trained to be a scientist. I'm not a deep thinker on all of this. I wish I was. I wish I was more knowledgeable, but I'm not a scientist." - Michele Bachmann interviewing with Todd Fiel at KKMS as quoted in the Stillwater Gazette, September 29, 2003.

"Something that I think sometimes people don’t like to hear is that secular people can be sometimes even more dogmatic in beliefs than people who are not secular. ... In some ways, to believe in evolution is almost like a following; a cult following — if you don’t believe in evolution, you’re considered completely backward. That seems to me very indicative of bias as well." - Michele Bachmann quoted in the Stillwater Gazette, September 29, 2003.

"No one that I know disagrees with natural selection — that you can take various breeds of dogs ... breed them, you get different kinds of dogs," she said. "It's just a fact of life. ... Where there's controversy is (at the question) 'Where do we say that a cell became a blade of grass, which became a starfish, which became a cat, which became a donkey, which became a human being?' There’s a real lack of evidence from change from actual species to a different type of species. That's where it's difficult to prove." - Michele Bachmann quoted in the Stillwater Gazette, September 29, 2003.

"On the morning of December 7, 1941, local St. Paulite Orville Ethier was aboard the USS Ward, a boat manned by 82 Navy reservists from St. Paul, when a small Japanese sub appeared near the entrance to Pearl Harbor. The Ward fired two shots, one of which struck and sank the sub, which constituted the first American shots of World War II. The commander of the Ward relayed a message about the incident back to military headquarters in Honolulu. The message stated, "We have attacked, fired upon and dropped depth charges upon submarine operating in defensive sea area." The message, sent more than an hour before the 8 a.m. attack on Pearl Harbor, went unheeded.

You are a type of Orville Ethier - a patriot looking to secure American freedoms. The question is, will the Senators of Minnesota act like the Honolulu military headquarters and ignore your message? Today we face perhaps the greatest attack on the family in our lifetime. Now is OUR time to stand up and send a message to avert an equally impending disaster. Please visit www.mnmarriage.com to read my recent column on the threat that legalized gay marriage poses to our civil and religious liberties and, to tax exempt organizations in particular." - Michele Bachmann email to supporters.

“Karl Rove said, "Now run, chase him. So I run after in my pink high heels. And the president - he's absolutely buff - he's like you Jason, he's got one percent body fat... I ran up behind him and it was the experience of a lifetime.” - Michele Bachmann, Jason Lewis Show, State Fair, August 2006.

"The President and I enjoy a great relationship. When he and I were back visiting the collapsed bridge, he reached over because he wanted to give me a kiss when we were down at the site. I pulled back and he said "What? You don't want to embrace?" I said, "The people of Minnesota love you, Mister President, but one kiss was enough…. We were just joking. It was light-hearted. It was fun. – WCCO Interview September 19, 2007.

“I am so proud to be from the state of Minnesota. We're the workingest state in the country, and the reason why we are, we have more people that are working longer hours, we have people that are working two jobs, we have more women in the workforce than any other state.” - Bachmann news conference, 2008.

"This is their agenda, I know it is hard to believe, it's hard to fathom -- but this is 'mission accomplished' for them. They want Americans to take transit and move to the inner cities. They want Americans to move to the urban core, live in tenements, [and] take light rail to their government jobs. That's their vision for America." - Interview with One News Now August 6, 2008.

"I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out: Are they pro-America or anti-America?" - Bachmann interview Chris Matthews 2008

"FDR applied just the opposite formula -- the Hoot-Smalley Act, which was a tremendous burden on tariff restrictions, and then, of course, trade barriers and the regulatory burden and tax barriers. That's what we saw happen under FDR. That took a recession and blew it into a full-scale depression. The American people suffered for almost 10 years under that kind of thinking." - Speech on the House floor 2009.

"So to see the specter of our president apologizing for American activity, bowing before the king of Saudi Arabia, which to me was highly symbolic, that he did that… and then now denying it, and then lying about it, and then also, our president is saying to the world that we are not a Christian nation, during Holy Week. Saying we are not a Christian nation, that we’re merely citizens with shared values. That is not true, it’s not reflective of our history." - April 9, 2009, Interview KSFO San Francisco.

"The imams, the imams were actually attending, ah, Congressman Keith Ellison’s victory celebration, when he won as a member of Congress. [Ed: This is a lie.] And the imams went to the Minneapolis airport to leave and go home. While they were there, they were shouting phrases anti-Bush, anti-America and they laid their prayer shawls—er, their prayer rugs out on the floor in the airport terminal, were having their prayers, and um, were making these statements and when they got aboard the airplane, they switched seats, they didn’t go to their proper seats, and they went in the pattern of the nine-one-one uh, um, terrorists who were on the airplanes, and they all asked for seatbelt extenders on their seats, in the airplane, and these weren’t large people. So, uh, there were people on the airplane that became very nervous about these public displays and they alerted the airplane authorities, and so, these six imams were taken off of the airplane. Well, the imams ended up suing everyone on the plane, the whistleblowers, and they said that their civil rights were violated. So that’s been a big mess, that case, and I don’t, I’m not sure, but I don’t believe that that’s been resolved yet. - April 9, 2009, Interview KSFO San Francisco."

"Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas." - Rep. Michelle Bachmann, House speech April, 2009

“I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us ‘having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,’ and the people – we the people – are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.” - March 23, 2009 WWTC interview.

"I'm a foreign correspondent on enemy lines and I try to let everyone back here in Minnesota know exactly the nefarious activities that are taking place in Washington." - March 23, 2009 WWTC interview.

"Does that mean that someone's 13-year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus? That night, mom and dad are never the wiser." - Bachmann, speech on House floor October 2009

"I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence." – Bachmann, April 28, 2009

"Take this into consideration. If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the Census Bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations at the request of President Roosevelt, and that's how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps. I'm not saying that that's what the Administration is planning to do, but I am saying that private personal information that was given to the Census Bureau in the 1940s was used against Americans to round them up, in a violation of their constitutional rights, and put the Japanese in internment camps." - Bachmann June 2009

I believe as dangerous as the President has been on economic policy, I think the President has been more dangerous on foreign policy. In many ways, he's disregarded our allies and empowered our enemies" - Interview with Scott Hennen June 20, 2011.

I believe as dangerous as the President has been on economic policy, I think the President has been more dangerous on foreign policy. In many ways, he's disregarded our allies and empowered our enemies" - Interview with Scott Hennen June 20, 2011.

"Iran is the troublemaker trying to tip over apple carts all over Baghdad right now because they want America to pull out. And you know why? It’s because they’ve already decided, that they’re going to territory, they’re- they’re going to partition Iraq and half of Iraq, the western northern portion of Iraq is going to be called, the United, uh, uh, the, the uh, -oh, I’m sorry, I can’t remember the actual name of it now, but it’s going to be called, um, uh, the, the, uh, uh the Iraq State of Islam, something like that. And I-I’m sorry, I-I don’t have the official name, but it is meant to be the training ground for the terrorists. There’s already an agreement made; they’re going to get half of Iraq and that is going to be a –a terrorist free,-a terrorist safe haven zone." - February 9, 2007, interview with Larry Schumacher, St Cloud Times. Posted February 10, 2007

“Michael Steele, you be da man! You be da man!” - Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), February 26, 2009

"My opponent has just so brazenly and blatantly lied about what I said. So this shows you that right out of the gate, that these people are not telling the truth, they have no plans to and so if they are altering how I look and coloring my teeth, that tells you who they are and how low they are." – Chris Baker Interview July 11, 2010

"And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors." – Manchester, New Hampshire March 12, 2011

Because Jan, this is an earthquake issue, this will change our state forever. The immediate consequence if gay marriage goes through is that k-12 little children will be forced to learn that homosexuality is normal and natural and that perhaps they should try it. And this will take away the civil rights of little children to be protected in their innocence - so it will take away the rights of parents to control and direct their child’s education and step on their sincerely held religious beliefs.
It will take away the right of the taxpayers because they will be forced to pay for same-sex benefits at school district level, county, city level. And also private businesses will immediately have to begin paying same-sex health care benefits – whether they want to or not. Plus this will end up resulting in loss of religious liberty and privileges and I can go into that. - Prophetic Views Behind The News - Jan Markell, KKMS , March 20, 2004.

“The reason why legal equivalency is in the bill, is that Civil Unions are the same thing as marriage. There is no difference. In the eyes of the law, the law doesn’t care whether you wear a white dress and get married in a Methodist church. That makes no difference to the law. The only thing the law has ever had is a civil ceremony. Civil Union, civil ceremony, same thing in eyes of the law, and that’s all the law cares about. It’s civil unions, civil ceremony, domestic partnership. It’s different words for the same exact thing. Just like we saw Charles and Camilla get married last Saturday in England in a civil ceremony. They were no less married. Everyone said they’re married. Noone said they’re civiled. They’re married. Civil unions are the same thing as marriage. So the impact of Civil Unions, and of Domestic Partnerships from a legal perspective from the point of view of the force of law is exactly the same. That’s what happened in Canada. They have the civil unions. And now today in Canada we’re seeing the words mother and father and natural parent are being struck from the books so no longer will natural parents have any rights over their children. This has profound implications no one would even think it would go this far. “- Michele Bachmann on Joyce Harley’s Show 4/15/2005

“ This is a radical transformation. We’re not talking about extending benefits to a few people. We’re talking about transforming marriage. That’s why we need to think of these profound implications that occur. We can’t have a quilt where we have one state that has marriage defined one way and another state where marriage is defined another way. The United States Supreme Court is US vs Reynolds made that very clear with polygamy cases. Utah could not be admitted to the union because they had a different standard for marriage. - Michele Bachmann on Joyce Harley’s Show 4/15/2005

“And in the midst of that calling, God then called me to run for the United States Congress. And I thought, what in the world would that be for. And my husband said “You need to do this.” And I wasn’t so sure. And we took three days, and we fasted and we prayed. And we said “Lord, is this what you want, are You sure? Is this Your will?” And after—along about the afternoon of day two, He made that calling sure. And it’s been now twenty-two months that I’ve been running for United States Congress. Who in their right mind would spend two years to run for a job that lasts for two years? You’d have to be absolutely a fool to do that. You are now looking at a fool for Christ. This is a fool for Christ.” - Living Word Center (2006)

“And from there, my husband said “Now you need to go and get post-doctorate degree in tax law. Tax law? I hate taxes. Why should I go and do something like that? But the Lord says: Be submissive, wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.” - Living Word Center (2006)

"I'm pro-choice on light bulbs, you bet I am. Pro-life on babies but pro-choice on light bulbs"- Jason Lewis KTLK-FM St Paul, Minnesota 3-26-2008

“[Nancy Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she’s just trying to save the planet. We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet — we didn’t need Nancy Pelosi to do that.” - Interview One News Now August, 2008

“Nancy Pelosi came into my city, went before the microphones and called me a disgrace to the Congress. It literally felt like somebody had marched me into the public square, given me a public flogging for 18 days straight.” – Interview Marc Levin , November 2008
