I contacted SD 52 party chair, John McCallum about the discrepancy between the Krinkie campaign and Bachmann campaign claims about delegate strength coming out of the SD 52 convention.

Hi John:
I've got another question - how many delegates did each candidate get from this convention. Michele Bachmann is claiming 33 out of the 36 delegates. Krinkie's campaign has claimed that he won more than 20% of the delegate slot - this conflicts with Bachmann's claim. 20% of 36 is 7.2 - so I assume "more than 20%" means 8 delegates. Did Knoblach or Esmay come out of the convention with any delegates?
Eva,
You gotta love campaigns and their spin... If the campaigns were accurate, they would include "in our opinion" before saying they have 33 of 36 or 20 percent of the delegates. No delegate is obligated publicly to any candidate, if they is any obligation, it's one given freely by the delegate to the candidate of their choice.
Most of the "old pro's" keep the candidate's guessing, saying one thing to one candidate and another to some other candidate, or they have to remain nuetral as dictated by the decorum and protocal of being offically involve in the 6th CD.
Its also important to note, that the top 20 percent of the alternates have a good possibility that may be seated., and their choice of a candidate should also be included.
It's my own opinion that the 6th CD Endorsement will be won by the candidate with the biggest 2nd choice candidate, base of support.
Thanks John Mc.
I've received copies of Michele Bachmann's SD 52 delegate slate. I will be posting this tomorrow. I have emailed the graphics to Michele Bachmann's campaign and to John McCallum to confirm if they are authentic. |
