SD 52 Republican Chair McCallum Steps Up to the Plate

... and answers questions from the peanut gallery. From the comments:

So did all the candidates who spoke at the convention sign McCallum's pledge?

Also, does GOP SD 52 normally split its convention into two events--one to endorse House candidates and the other to endorse Senate candidates? If not, why did it do so this time? And will delegates be required to pay for two conventions--and spend two days doing what normally takes one day to accomplish?

Are there other GOP candidates wanting to run for Bachmann's senate seat? How do they feel about having to wait for a late endorsing convention?

LOTS of questions remain for Mr. McCallum.

Did every one sign the pledge..YES
Including Jeff Johnson running for AG, who did it on the stage..My rule was if you wished to address to the convention, you had to sign the endorsement pledge, that included Pawlenty, Kiffmeyer, Anderson, and Kennedy plus the CD candiates

Do we normally hold two conventions..NO.. but then we normally don't have a sitting State Senator running for congress.. The decision for two conventions was mine, and was ratified by the SD52 Full Committee. My responsibilty as Chair is to have the convention choose the candidate they wish, not play kingmaker.
How do they feel, thats a question for them to answer..

Will the delegates pay again..YES..
but I do not expect the same fee structure or all day registration.
I will fund the endorsed candiates any way possible, including convention fees...Your donation is always welcome..

Are there other candiates looking at the Senate seat...YES, several..
Some will hold back publicly announcing as a matter of protocol and decorum...

Any other questions..fire away
John McCallum

I've got another question - how many delegates did each candidate get from this convention. Michele Bachmann is claiming 33 out of the 36 delegates. Krinkie's campaign has claimed that he won more than 20% of the delegate slot. Did Knoblach or Esmay come out of the convention with any delegates?
