It's Steve Sarvi Day

Yes, it's "Steve Sarvi Day." Yes, on political blogs all across Minnesota--there's a special "something" in the air, because it's "Steve Sarvi Day."

Progressive blogs all over Minnesota are being asked to dedicate some space to Steve Sarvi, today. This isn't a progressive blog--it's a non-partisan blog, the only thing we all have in common is the desire to "Dump Bachmann." And normally we are forbidden from talking about subjects other than Bachmann--unless the subject is somehow, tangentially related to Bachmann, however remotely.

Which brings us back to "Steve Sarvi Day." "Who," you have been asking yourself ever since you started reading this, "...is "Steve Sarvi," and why does he get a "day," and me get none?"

No, Steve Sarvi is not one of those Make A Wish kids who's dying and whose last wish was to have their own "day" on the Internet. No, Steve Sarvi is not the cutest member of the latest music industry generated "boy band," and thus *entitled* to his own "day" on the Internet.

Steve Sarvi is the candidate who's running against conservative Republican John Kline for Congress this year. Minnesota Congressman John Kline, as fans of this blog know, is Michele Bachmann's closest ideological friend in the Minnesota Congressional delegation. They vote together like Tweedledum and Tweedledummer; I believe they both joined the GOP vote against Mother's Day this year.

So there you have it. You will wish to send money to this guy Steve Sarvi because he is running against Bachmann's biggest ally in the Minnesota Congressional delegation. I don't know anything else about Steve Sarvi. Maybe he's an asshole, maybe he's another Lincoln--I don't know, I just don't know. I do know that many, many bright people who follow politics in Minnesota think he's great.
