This is the top story on Yahoo's most viewed news story, at this writing. If you are wondering why an extremist like Bachmann can win--it's because of reporting like this.
The Associated Press reporter once again suggests that people from all around the United States donated nearly one million dollars in the space of one week to the campaign of Bachmann's opponent *because they were outraged by her suggestion that Barack Obama has hidden anti-American views.*
Yes, she did indicate that, with "Absolutely! etc." remarks. But that is not the reason that people from all around the country donated to her opponent. Republicans and conservatives diss Obama's patriotism all day on conservative television and radio: no million dollar contributions to Dems follow.
The difference here is Bachmann's craziness in calling for the investigation of members of Senate and the Congress for anti-Americanism. That's what outraged the grassroots donors.
But that isn't even *mentioned* in this AP story. What she said about *that* is not quoted. But her denial that she said *that*--her call for an investigation--*is* quoted in the AP story.
So the AP gives her a national place to run denial, without even reporting that she did *in fact* call for the anti-American investigation: that's on the frikkin' video tape.
This kind of spin/damage control by media is what Bachmann opponents are up against all the time. It's a large part of why this nut's in Congress.
Her lies continue--aided and abetted by the Associated Press, this time. |
