DCCC now fundraising nationally on basis of Bachmann McCarthyism

From a fundraising letter written by James Carville, sent out this afternoon:

Breaking News: In response to Michele Bachmann's comments that Obama was "anti-American" and her call for a media witch hunt to investigate other "anti-American" Democrats (see the video), the Republicans now have plans to do whatever it takes to save this seat.

Bachmann's Democratic challenger is within a few points of taking her out, and there are dozens of races just like this one across the country.

September fundraising reports show Bachmann has an impressive $1.3 million in the bank to defend her indefensible words. The DCCC has already announced plans for a $1 million ad buy in this race. Today, I am asking you to help us raise $500,000 more to help support our Democratic challenger, Elwyn Tinklenberg and others.

If we don't act now, Republicans will keep throwing money at these candidates, and people like Michele Bachmann will keep pushing this new brand McCarthyism.

Make a "Clean House" contribution right now. Support candidates who are committed to moving America forward.

On Sunday, Colin Powell went out of his way to challenge the divisive, indefensible campaign tactics of Michele Bachmann. His response to her proposed media witch hunt:

"We've got to stop this kind of nonsense and pull ourselves together and remember that our great strength is in our unity and our diversity."
...The Club for Growth came out and endorsed Bachmann, the Club normally likes to just play in GOP primaries, so when they endorse a Republican incumbent you know GOPers are wetting their pants.

I'm proud of our party for standing strong in the face of what General Powell has rightly rejected as "nonsense" challenging the patriotism of Democrats everywhere.

Enough's enough. We've got 14 days left to keep taking on this kind of outrageousness wherever it rears its ugly head.

James Carville

P.S. Today, Congresswoman Bachmann resorted to the scoundrel's refuge of denying that she ever said what she is clearly on tape saying. Don't let her or any candidates resorting to this kind of divisive tactic off the hook. Stand with the DCCC and its candidates now.

If anyone sees the first of the new Tinklenberg ads or knows of links to them, please send them in here, to this blog. People from out of state who donated more than $800,000 in small, grass roots contributions, are very interested in knowing what is going out here in Minnesota.
