Tinklenberg: What I'm Gonna Use The Money For

This afternoon MPR's Polinaut web page reported that Bachmann opponent Elwyn Tinklenberg raised "$620 thousand since GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann made her comments on Friday." (The comments she made on Chris Matthews' Hardball interview--you know, the ones where she called for an investigation of anti-Americanism in Congress and elsewhere.)

Last night, in the middle of the night, I wrote in on behalf of this blog to the Daily Kos to thank their readers for their wonderful generosity.

This blog has no affiliation with the Kos or Elwyn Tinklenberg or the DFL. We just want to dump Bachmann, and all those people who gave to Tinklenberg want to see her dumped, too.

My thank you note to the Daily Kos readers got two hundred and ninety five "you're welcomes," in various different form. Tinklenberg wrote in a "thank you note" of his own which got a much bigger response.

Kos readers weren't the only ones who donated in the wake of Bachmann's McCarthy-like call for investigation of anti-Americanism. There were countless contributions from other blog readers too, and contributions directly to the Tinklenberg web site.

This afternoon my wife got a call from Elwyn Tinklenberg. She's a regular Dem contributor (I am not.) I roughly grabbed my wife, threw her to the floor, and ripped the phone out of her hand so I could ask Tinklenberg what he's going to do with all that dough people like you gave him over the last twenty four hours.

"It's going to go to media," said Tinklenberg. "This is now about being on TV." Tinklenberg will use the money for the ad buys he needs to challenge Bachmann in the two week run up to the election. But he also said: "We're gonna use some of it to strengthen the incredible ground organization we've got going."

This is critical, because Bachmann's enjoyed the money advantage throughout this campaign cycle--up until now. If there's a difference that can be made, your donations to Tinklenberg's campaign are going to make that difference.

This blog is non-partisan. We don't care which candidate or party dumps Bachmann; we just want her dumped. But this year Elwyn Tinklenberg is the only candidate that has any chance of displacing hatemonger Michele Bachmann.

And oh, yeah: after the Chris Matthews interview took off and the contributions started rolling in, I typed as fast as I could and put up this profile of Michele Bachmann on the Kos. If all you know about Bachmann is her outrageous statements during the Matthew interview, you probably want to look at that link. You'll see she's an extremist hater from way back. That's why we want her out, out, out of government...
