Bachmann & Her Abuse of her Franking Privilege

Bluestem Prairie has a post about Bachmann's fellow traveller Allen Quist and his new cause: Over on his website, Allen Quist has the fainting fantods over Congressional Democrat Tim Walz's use of congressional franking. Not that that condition is surprising, given that he was bewailing the lack of character of failed MNGOP leadership over on his Facebook page just before Christmas. Read the whole thing. Bachmann is a big abuser of franking. In 2010, she was in the top 60 of congress members sending out mailers at taxpayers' expense according to the St. Cloud Times: Bachmann reported spending $217,197 on franked communications and made 4,102,827 contacts with constituents during 2009. That ranked her 57th in the House in terms of money spent and 12th in the number of communications sent. While lawmakers typically spend more in the final quarter of the year, almost half of Bachmann’s total expenditures were from January through March. Records show she spent $106,088 during that period to send out 1,329,017 pieces of communication.
