Michele Bachmann & Bathroomgate - The Sheriff's Report

Back by popular demand... the Sheriff's report on Bachmann's freak-out in a public bathroom in Scandia in 2005 (click on the pages to make them bigger):

Post on Bathroomgate by Michele Bachmann supporter

Sprucegoose April 10, 2005

This is from a Prayer Transformation ministries email.

"Friday night Sen. Bachmann was terribly harassed at a town meeting and after, as she was in the rest room, was verbally attacked by two from the gay group who held the door so she couldn't get out. Michele started screaming for help so they moved a side. She was verbally shaken and crying as she left. I say all this to say that she needs much more prayer now than ever. Her husband Marcus also has pneumonia so please lift him up in prayer also.

Things are heating up so let's get our prayer groups together and pray."
It is attributed to information from Dan Hall. Senator Bachmann is the key person on pushing for a public vote about a marriage amendment in Minnesota. She is on the front lines of a very serious battle.

This actually occurred at a Saturday AM town meeting in Scandia. Dan Hall is now a state senator. Reporters should call him to ask about bathroomgate. The story here is quite different than what other eye witnesses to the event saw.

Good Find By Think Progress: Michele Bachmann Endorsed Ex-Gay Group in 2004

Here:

But Michele Bachmann has gone even further in endorsing the discredited ex-gay movement. In 2004, as ex-gay proponents “Love Won Out” prepared to hold their annual conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota for those “struggling with unwanted homosexuality,” Bachmann not only lent a quote for the group’s press release but also “opened the conference with a greeting and blessing.” From the release:
“We are so pleased that Minneapolis has invited us back to share again that change is possible for those who are no longer satisfied with their homosexuality,” said Mike Haley, host of the Love Won Out conference, a former homosexual and the author of the book 101 Frequently Asked Questions About Homosexuality. “In fact, we have been officially welcomed by Minnesota Sen. Michele Bachmann, the author of the state marriage-protection amendment.”
Though her amendment was blocked in the Legislature, Bachmann remains committed to protecting marriage and looks forward to hearing about the causes of same-sex attraction.
“I know that Love Won Out will present the truth about homosexuality,” Bachmann said, “and present it in a compassionate and loving manner. Those of us working to safeguard marriage from redefinition by radical judges must inform our efforts with an understanding of the deep emotional wounds that many in the homosexual community carry. I look forward to welcoming Minnesotans and residents of surrounding states to hear the message of healing that is possible.”

The “truth” of Love Won Out and other ex-gay organizations has been discredited by professional medical organizations, who see reparative counseling as harmful to gay people. Both the American Psychological Association and American Psychiatric Association — among other groups — have ruled that efforts to change sexual orientation have no scientific credibility and can cause psychological harm to patients. As a recent revelations about Dr. George Rekers’ efforts to change the sexual orientation of a 7-year-old boy reveal, sometimes that therapy can lead to deadly consequences.

To Michele and Marcus Bachmann, the only good gay is an ex-gay.

Kent Kaiser Twitter FAIL - Claims Marcus Bachmann is Not Political

Kent Kaiser, former flakster for Mary Kiffmeyer has been tweeting about what he thinks is the media's "sexist double standard" concerning Marcus Bachmann.

michele bachmann,kent kaiser

Kaiser disputes media reports;

"Marcus Bachmann is at wife's side, but is he political?"

MinPost's Media maven David Brauer tweets back:

"@kentkaiser Better sourcing on Marcus Bachmann's political influence: Marcus himself. Hard to argue bias given that."

Longtime DB readers will recall that Kent Kaiser was once a one-man-LTE-writing-factory, defending Bachmann.

Here's a hilarious Kaiser tweet about his former boss:

David Weigel: Dump Bachmann blog & City Pages is "the source of 85.6%* of pre-fame Bachmann stories"

David Weigel in Slate writing about the excellent profile of Bachmann by Jason Horowitz in today's Washington Post:

It's an unwritten law: If you profile Michele Bachmann, you mention the time she "ran screaming from a bathroom at a constituent forum, claiming that a lesbian had attempted to keep her there against her will." That's how Jason Horowitz puts it in his profile; Michelle Goldberg spent more time crafting the narrative in her profile.

What the hell happened? The Dump Bachmann blog, which along with this City Pages profile is the source of 85.6%* of pre-fame Bachmann stories, reported the story first via an e-mail from two attendees.

Weigel goes on to link and quote from this 2005 DB post about Bathroomgate.

We also interviewed eyewitnesses:

AUDIO: Tom Petters Talking About Bachmann Pardon Pal Frank Vennes - What Vennes Knew and His Pardon

Cross-posted at Vennes Info.

In a wire recording from September, 8, 2008, Government witness Deanna Coleman recorded Tom Petters talking about Frank Vennes. The money quotes:

Coleman: Frank knows that a lot of these are fake PO's, doesn't he?

Petters: No.

Coleman: Oh, doesn't he?

Petters: No, he just know a bunch of them are.

Petters also mentions that Vennes once described the office of Bob White who forged the fake purchase orders that were used to raise money for the Ponzi scheme as a "little paper manufacturing" plant. He also talks about how afraid Vennes was about the scheme going down and the "little old ladies" who invested in the Petters fraud through Vennes. Petters also says Vennes told him he would be saved from the consequences because he was going to get a pardon "next year".

This is an edited audio file. The complete audio file and transcript is on the MN DOJ website (Exhibit #377).

Is Michele Bachmann Copying Sarah Palin?

Palin fan Tammy Bruce tweets:

Tammy Bruce links to an article in at the U.K. Daily Mail site that has some pics of Bachmann checking out some dude's tattoo..... just like her BFF Sarah Palin - what's up with that?

Here's a clip of a video I did at a McCain/Pallin rally in Blaine back in 2008. Palin had her first dude with her... where was Bachmann's first dude?

Speaking of Bachmann's first dude... here he is dancing (again) with his spouse in Iowa recently. Question: Can Sarah Palin's first dude dance like that? My other question: who is taking care of Dr. Bachmann's patients at the clinic?

Video: "MICHELE’S FARM "

A special Fourth of July treat...

MICHELE’S FARM

Lyrics by Ignatius P. Reilly,

I ain’t gonna work on Michele’s farm no more.
No, I ain’t gonna work on Michele’s farm no more.
Well, she wakes in the morning,
Folds her hands and pray for votes.
She’s got a head full of nothing
But Mac Hammond gives her hope.
It’s a shame the way she votes against the poor.
I ain’t gonna work on Michele's farm no more.

I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s kin no more.
No, I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s kin no more.
Well, he hands her a nickel,
He hands her a dime,
He hands her a check
When it’s farm subsidy time,
Then it’s back to D.C. while Marcus minds the store.
I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s kin no more.

I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s president no more.
No, I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s president no more.
Well, he invades a country
Based on lies and just for kicks.
His V.P.’s bunker
It is made out of bricks.
The National Guard he’s got ‘em fightin’ a war.
Ah, I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s president no more.

I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s hubby no more.
No, I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s hubby no more.
Well, he talks to all his patients
About gays and God and Michele
And if you don’t vote for her
You’re goin’ straight to hell.
They claim he’s straight but no one’s really sure.
I ain’t gonna work for Michele’s hubby no more.

I ain’t gonna work on Michele’s farm no more.
No, I ain’t gonna work on Michele’s farm no more.
Well, she tries her best
To collect those subsidies,
But tells everyone else
Not to be just like me.
And cash my checks while Marcus shops the stores.
I ain’t gonna work on Michele’s farm no more.

(apologies to Bob Dylan)

Dump Bachmann Photos and Video Swiped and Not Credited

One of our favorite bloggers Phoenix Woman tweets on our behalf:

In the media feeding frenzy over Bachmann, care is not being taken to properly attribute the source of material, much of it compiled on this blog over the years by unpaid volunteers.

The audio that Keith Olberman said the other night "recently surfaced" and the LA Times says was "first reported by the Think Progress blog, " was posted on this blog and archived on our You Tube channel MNPOLITICS a year ago as this screenshot shows:

And this often uncredited photo was taken by our own Michele M:

So, please MSM and blogs, give us a link or some credit when you use our stuff, okay?

Michele Bachmann Boasts About Shutting Down Legislative Session Over Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment

Since we've got all this news about the Minnesota State Government shutdown, this seems relevant. Emphasis mine.

To my dear friends:

Today, May 17, 2004, is a momentous day of change for America, but our God is mightier still.

Thank you for calling upon your listeners to come to the Capitol to pray for the final session countdown. We adjourned at 7 a.m. on Sunday in a thunder of confusion and it was all over the issue of letting the people vote on marriage.

The number one story for the end of session was the praying people, their clear pro-family witness for Christ, and their strength of numbers. Over a 24-hour period from Saturday through Sunday, there must have been 500 people at the Capitol. The peoples presence charged the entire dynamic for end of session. Bills were deliberately not taken up because of the marriage issue.

Pro-family people were everywhere faithfully persevering in prayer.

We tried for 21 hours to get the marriage bill on the Senate floor for debate and a vote, but were prevented from achieving that goal. The Senate refused to recognize me when I stood requesting to speak on any bill. Other Senators tried to speak and tried to yield their time to me so I could speak, but the Senate President ignored me and continued to pound his gavel at the desk.

Members from the House huddled around TV sets to watch the Senate proceedings and were stunned that the Senate would purposely and repeatedly ignore a sitting member who repeated requested to speak.

In the end, the Senate Majority Leader moved for final adjournment and ran out the side door of the chamber to avoid meeting the faithful prayer warriors out by the front doors. Once again, I spoke into my microphone, but the majority leaders left the Senate chamber, and the session was over with a thud.

Afterwards, the faithful gathered their signs, we hugged, and they applauded the group of Senators who voted for man/woman marriage. It was 7:30 a.m., Sunday morning, and we had lost the battle, but encouraged one another that our God would be victorious in the end.

Today, we're having a press conference to tell the people of Minnesota to keep praying. Because, as of today, homosexual marriage is legal in Massachusetts and that imposes a real threat to Minnesotas definition of marriage and to our civil and religious liberties.

Sincerely,

State Senator Michele Bachmann

Michele Bachmann's Campaign Website Hearts Ted Nugent and His Violent, Obscenity-Laced Music

The Bachmann campaign has been having trouble with musicians lately not approving her use of their songs. Ted Nugent has offered her the use of his music:

Ted Nugent, for one, would be happy to help out. In an e-mail sent Tuesday, the conservative rocker wrote: “Michele Bachmann is clearly a Great American. Her words have iron, her spirit is indefatigable and her beauty contagious. In a perfect world her ultimate campaign theme song would be WANG DANG SWEET [expletive] just to fire up America and prove that political correctness is laughable.

The deleted expletive is "poontang" (lyrics to Wang Dang Sweet Poontang here) Here's a portion:

She's so sweet when
she yanks on my meat
Down on the street you know she can't be beat
What the hell

In the same article Nugent also suggested using a song titled "Stranglehold" (wonder if that's also her old campaign manager Bill Pulkrabek's favorite tune?):

Unbelievably, the Bachmann campaign has posted this on her campaign website... really! Take a look.

Here are the creepy lyrics:

Ted Nugent
Stranglehold Lyrics

HERE I COME AGAIN NOW BABY
LIKE A DOG IN HEAT
TELL IT'S ME BY THE WAY NOW BABY
I LIKE TO TAP THE STREETS

NOW I'VE BEEN SMOKING FOR SO LONG
YOU KNOW I'M HERE TO STAY
GOT YOU IN A STRANGLEHOLD BABY
YOU BEST GET OUT OF THE WAY

GONNA CRUISE IS A BITCH NOW BABY
YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T DO ME 'ROUND
IF YOUR HOUSE GETS IN MY WAY BABY
YOU KNOW I'LL BURN IT DOWN

YOU REMEMBER THE NIGHT THAT YOU LEFT ME
YOU PUT ME IN MY PLACE
GOT YOU IN A STRANGLEHOLD NOW BABY
YOU BETTER CROSS YOUR WAY

solo

SOMETIMES YOU WANNA GET HIGHER
SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA START LOW
SOME PEOPLE THINK THEY GONNA DIE SOMEDAY
I GOT NEWS YOU NEVER GOT TO GO OLD

COME ON COME ON UP; 4 times
COME ON COME ON BABY
COME ON COME ON UP
COME ON COME ON BABY
COME ON COME ON

GONNA CRUISE IS A BITCH NOW BABY
YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T DO ME 'ROUND
IF YOUR HOUSE GETS IN MY WAY BABY
YOU KNOW I'LL BURN IT DOWN

YOU REMEMBER THE NIGHT THAT YOU LEFT ME
YOU PUT ME IN MY PLACE
GOT YOU IN A STRANGLEHOLD NOW BABY
YOU BETTER CROSS YOUR WAY

Here's a video of Ted Nugent performing "Stranglehold" - Warning, it's not exactly family-friendly or safe for work:

Video: Marcus Proclaims "It's Really Easy to Love This Woman"

Marcus takes the microphone at about 3:30:

This apparently took place at a "town hall meeting" (not in the 6th CD):

Michele Bachmann, the congressional representative of Minnesota's sixth district, will be holding a "town hall meeting" at DiGiorgio Campus Center at Winthrop University in Rock Hill on June 29. Nevermind that Winthrop University is roughly 1200 miles away from her district; she's running for PRESIDENT. Keep in mind that this is not a "meet and greet" or "backyard chat" as her other SC stops are titled, but a "Town Hall Meeting," where representatives in Congress are giving their ear to citizen concerns about policy. Why in the world is she having such a meeting in Rock Hill, SC, 1200 miles from Washington, Minnesota, where not a single person is expected to have any vested interest in the actions of congress as they effect the sixth district in Minnesota?
